What’s new: June 2023

June has flown by so quickly this newsletter almost landed in July! Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We’d like to ask specifically for prayer over the following items:

  • For continued spiritual growth in our church members, especially for the kids who recently went through a discipleship class
  • For the discernment to focus on ministries that God wants us to be involved in
  • For the energy and endurance to persevere when discouragement starts to creep in

I heard an interesting reflection lately that Jesus’ cross was not one clad with velvet. In other words, as His followers tasked with denying ourselves, taking up our crosses, and following Him (Matthew 16:24), we can expect opposition and afflictions to some degree or other.

and we sent Timothy, our brother and God’s coworker in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith, that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this.

1 Thessalonians 3:2–3 (ESV)

We are so grateful that no matter what happens, those who put their trust in God are never alone (Joshua 1:9).

Ministry updates

As I mentioned above, some of the children at our church recently went through a discipleship course. We’re so excited to see them starting their journey with the Lord.

Homestead updates

The chicken coop I mentioned last time is almost finished. The corn and beans we’ve planted are coming along, and we’re keeping busy with daily chores. One thing I’ve been doing of late in my Bible study time is not just reading, but praying through several Psalms each day. What a transformative experience it’s been! I recommend it if you’re not already doing this yourself.
